Renters Insurance 101
Renters Insurance Coverage
Renters insurance is an affordable way to protect your personal property in the case of theft or other natural disasters. It also financially protects you from lawsuits and the cost of any accidental damage you cause to the rental property. Consider the cost of insurance versus the amount you’ll have to pay to replace stolen or damaged personal items. Keep in mind, the replacement of designer goods (like purses and shoes), expensive jewelry and other electronics can add up quickly.
Want to know if renters insurance makes sense for you? Take a minute (or an hour or a day) to add up the total cost it would take to replace your things. And don’t just stick to the obvious: electronics, furniture and jewelry. Remember to include expensive clothing, shoes, purses, memorabilia and anything else that could be stolen or damaged. If you don’t have the cash on hand to replace it all (or it would hurt too much to spend it), then it’s time to look into renters insurance.
